MMOEXP: Elden Ring's "spirit ashes" is among its most notable
Unlike other role-playing games, Elden Ring Runes lack of a quest log requires players to pay close attention to conversations and their surroundings to be able to follow specific NPC stories. However, the start of a questline was so hidden that FromSoftware did its best to ensure that people would naturally gravitate towards the questline.
Boc The Seamster is easy to miss. He appears first in Limgrave the region where everyone's Elden Ring adventure begins, however, I've not seen Boc at all in my current, 100-hour-long playthrough. Boc is disguised as a bush when it's your first encounter with him. And during the game's start Boc only yelled out to the players passing by Tarnished after they had climbed right up in his grill. He's very well hidden in fact that I've witnessed players come close enough to start Boc's incoherent dialogue, search the area for the source, and then quit without seeing his camouflage.
As seen in the small Illusory Wall video above, last month's massive update increased the range to which Boc begins to call out in the direction of Elden Ring players. This makes it so that those who stay on the main roads can hear Boc from the road's cobblestones without having to go into the lush wilds that surround it.
FromSoftware even included a rare, purple-colored drop of items nearby to lure Tarnished to explore further buy Elden Ring Items the region where Boc is hiding. But it's up to the players to discern whether how to take on Boc or take on Boc's disguise to unveil him.
